the route

it’s about 7000k or Florida to Alaska or 34,000,000 jumbo hot dogs laid end to end.

Africa is big. One billion people and nearly twelve million square miles. That’s Texas times 43. From South Africa we will pedal northward through eleven nations, cycling past bustling towns, crossing great deserts, via the burgeoning cities of Lusaka, Kigoma, Kigali, Kampala, Kisumu and Nairobi, down the Great Rift Valley, next to lions and elephants and up to Addis Ababa on the Ethiopian highlands. For four months we will ride.

Lots of research! Burundi and Rwanda sounded more interesting than central
Tanzania. A lot of the time there’s only a couple roads north so route
finding is pretty easy. If you have any specific questions do ask!

If you’ve been reading the blog, as is self evident, circumstances beyond our control have altered the route. New map coming soon…
